This song is a trio, a la "Andrew Sisters". They are ants which Thumbelina meets after her departure from Malcolm Mayfly and his desire to marry her.
Since the Toads kidnapped her, she has always had someone there to at least take care of her basic needs: food, shelter, a bed to sleep on. But now, for the first time, she finds herself completely alone and unprepared for how to survive. The ants teach her the values of working for a living and show her how to survive through the spring and summer.
